In just 3 years, Ryan Smith has excelled within the Realmark Urban business. During this time he has taken out key awards within the industry including Rookie of the Year 2019 and Sales Team of the Year 2020 in the REIWA Excellence Awards.
From sport to starting multiple businesses, running a marketing agency for over 25 hospitality venues, and being a shareholder in an international franchise chain, Ryan then excelled in real estate. From his late teens, Ryan focused on his sporting career whilst, simultaneously exploring ventures into hospitality, gym franchises, and marketing businesses.
A talented athlete in Golf and Australian Rules Football, Ryan developed his team culture which was a big influence on his business career foundations and mindset.
“My family really set me up for success. Without their support and mentorship from my dad (Wayne Smith), I wouldn't be where I am today. I wanted to develop a career after sport that meant something and Realmark was exceptional in helping me achieve this through guidance and support,” said Ryan.
“Professional sportspeople know how to perform under pressure, and when the heat is turned up, they remain calm and in control. Negotiating offers in private treaty sales or tracking bids in a fast-paced auction require real estate professionals to be mentally tough, remain composed under pressure, and work hard for a favorable outcome for their client,” he added.
Ryan leveraged his business acumen and interest in property to launch into the property industry when he joined Realmark Urban. Working alongside some of the industry leaders and being part of building the entire team; which had a collaborative culture from the start.
“As an athlete, being a good team player is essential. Even if they are not playing a team sport, they will work closely with a support team of coach, manager, physiotherapist, etc. Real estate professionals need to work well with a variety of personality types, co-operating to work efficiently and effectively, and having a great mentor is essential and I found that in Realmark.”
Realmark identified the potential in Ryan and his drive to succeed which was ingrained in his personality from being a talented athlete. Key skills from being in golf tournaments ensured Ryan was able to identify his aspirations as Realmark helped guide his career journey from the golf course to successful real estate representative and now to become a Partner in the business.

I had experience in my multiple businesses and my sporting background which played a huge role in how I saw the team growing.
