The $50 million DOC was designed by INTRO Architects, with Ahrens – a 120-year-old, fifth-generation South Australian family-owned company – appointed by developer Devwest Group to bring the concept to life.
Devwest Group Development Director, Brett Lovett, said excitement around the new shopping destination is reaching fever pitch.
“The countdown is on to our grand opening and it’s fantastic to have 51 tenancies filled and only 4 remaining,” Mr Lovett said.
“As South Australia swelters through these hot late summer weeks it illustrates how important it will be to offer bargain-hunters a comfortable, under-cover shopping experience.
“District will be Adelaide’s only under-cover outlet which will also be a big drawcard on those cold and rainy winter days.”
Realmark Commercial Retail Sales and Leasing Director, Michael Richardson, said the latest brands to sign up have taken some of the bigger tenancies, offering plenty of choice for shoppers.
“These latest deals equate to approximately 1,800sqm of floor space and we now only have a few tenancies left,” Mr Richardson said.
“Interest in this project has been phenomenal with more than 70% of tenancies secured before construction on the outlet even started.
“District will provide a huge economic boost not only for the northern suburbs but across Adelaide and position the city well for future investment opportunities.”
The centre is expected to open to the public in the middle of the year.
