This review follows the major reforms of 2020, which focused on improving buyer protections, dispute resolution, and scheme management.
Now, the goal is to identify further changes that will benefit strata owners and residents across the state.
With almost 340,000 strata properties in WA, this review provides an important opportunity for strata owners, residents, and industry professionals to influence the next phase of strata regulations.
The focus areas include improving cost controls in strata schemes, setting higher standards for strata managers, and enhancing overall strata living.
The review will be carried out by Landgate, on behalf of the Minister for Lands, and involves two phases of public consultation, with the first running from 1 to 31 October 2024.
At Realmark Strata, we understand the complexities of strata living and the impact these laws have on your property and community.
We believe it’s vital that all stakeholders have their say in this review to ensure the reforms reflect the needs and concerns of those directly affected.
"This is a crucial time for strata owners and residents to voice their opinions,” says Luke Downie, head of strata and business development at Realmark Strata.
“These reforms will shape the future of strata living in WA, and it’s essential that those on the ground - who live and work in strata communities every day - are heard.”
The second phase of public consultation is expected in early 2025, when proposed solutions will be shared for further feedback.
Until then, Realmark Strata is here to help you navigate the consultation process. Whether you have questions about how the review might impact you or need guidance on making a submission, we’re ready to assist.
This is your chance to make a difference. By engaging in this consultation, you can help ensure that future strata laws work in your favour.
