Welcome to our Feature Renovation #2. This week we are very excited to be featuring the home of our lovely Director, Jenny Hughes. Jenny has been working in real estate for over 30 years and has seen hundreds of homes over the years. So when Jenny agreed to feature her home in our blog, we were more than excited to see her home transformation!

The original home was light and bright with a neutral colour scheme which featured white cabinetry and beige tiling throughout the living and kitchen space, but there were a few little things that Jenny wanted to change to add her own touch to her new space.

With her thoughtful addition of mint detailing, timber floorboards, modern cabinetry and greenery, the space is now exuding modern coastal vibes. We hope you enjoy reading more about her recent project below!

1) When did you start/finish your kitchen renovation?
I started my renovation in late January 2018 and finished it in April 2018

2) Tell us a little about your reno project
It started with the decision to change the floors from tiles to timber. Once I started that I then decided it would be a good time to also renovate the kitchen as well so the project grew from there.

3) What was the inspiration behind your reno?
I had recently purchased the home and wanted to make it my own

4) Where did you get your ideas from?
I looked on Pinterest for ideas that matched the layout of the kitchen that I wanted. Then I spoke to a couple of kitchen makers for further ideas

5) Did you have any major hiccups during the process?
I didn’t have any hiccups because my son, Brad, who had just finished renovating and extending his own home, oversaw the whole project and was able to foresee any issues. He also added ideas which helped the overall finish and look.

6) Any tips for current or future renovators
As a tip, I would say be aware of the overall cost, as it adds up.

7) Are there any contractors you’d recommend?
I would recommend you talk to someone like Brad who understands or has experience in renovations and get them to oversee it rather than you trying to employ different trades people yourself. This will certainly alleviate any potential major hiccups!
